Auld Reekie- Edinburgh
Edinburgh is often affectionally called Auld Reekie which means ‘Old Smokey’ in Scots dialect. In the 17th Century the drainage system, air pollution, overcrowding and general (un)cleanliness of the city produced a stench that was overwhelming to say the least. Hence the nickname Auld Reekie. This print captures a beautiful skyline and many of the key buildings of this remarkable city.
